Goodness!! I hope that was cathartic and helped lighten your load. Take care, we’re not quite done yet.

I agree with you completely about Garland, good man who’s done a lot of good work, but totally wrong for this era. Unfortunately Kamala is probably going to have to either keep him or put someone else in as “acting” AG (GOP Senate highly likely and will never confirm her appointees), neither of which would be great.

If you are from a blue state or cannot go to a battleground state, your volunteer work is needed to do ballot-curing through VoPro Pros and the Harris/Walz campaign. Info on ballot-curing is in this article on the Substack newsletter The Grassroots Connector:

https://grassrootsconnector.substack.com/p/voter-protection-wins-elections?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=1529725&post_id=150709203&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=7pik8&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

“It’s Easy to Volunteer to Cure Ballots

“Early voting has started in all swing states, so ballot curing is already underway. It will continue after Election Day, with different deadlines for ballot counting in different states. Several groups are seeking volunteers for various “voter protection activities.” These include: VoPro Pros, an all volunteer organization, various state Democratic parties, and the Harris-Walz campaign. You can sign up to be trained and deployed by VoPro Pros here. You can sign up to volunteer with a variety of state Democratic parties here.

“Most ballot-curing is done by phone, so a volunteer can be anywhere and help make votes count. One of the great things about ballot curing is that volunteers know they are making a direct contribution to increasing Democratic vote totals in battleground states, districts, and local elections. Together they will help us win the White House, the Senate, and all down ballot races, too.”

Hi David, great piece again, I agree with you. It would be nice if Trump’s memory would just disappear and we’ve managed to do that pretty nicely with past fascists. The problem is that without a continuous generational memory, we tend to repeat. The rise of Trump should be a day of infamy and we should have a holiday to celebrate the maintaining of our democratic republic over all its attacks. Ideally, the fourth would be sufficient, but clearly it is not. It should be engrained in our consciousness.

Thank you David. Your insight and wit has helped me get through the last decade.

The first thing I got asked when people realized I was American when in another country was “What happened to America? I mean that Donald Trump is an idiot. I expected more from you guys.”

Now we get to sit through more trials and convictions 🙏🏻

Yes there will still be a Trump clown posse until they are all locked up.

So tired. PTSD.

For a bit of historical perspective -- when I was hitchhiking around Britain and Ireland in the mid-1970s, I got asked similar questions -- the Indochina war still loomed large in the rearview mirror at that point. I was also told quite a few times "You don't *act* like an American." (This was more about typical American tourist behavior than politics.)

I enjoy reading your posts. I may get a lot of blowback about this, but please keep in mind that it’s just an observation. Please use your checkers, the spelling and grammar. I assume you’re very intelligent and I hate to see anyone criticize your work. Keep on keeping on!!

Your words contain such relief and release from the last eight or so years of holding on for dear life. In any event, after the election, it's time for a new chapter. I'm so excited at the prospect.

What if Trump fulfills his new dream and becomes a whale psychiatrist? What then?

You gotta love this; a blessing! I will start flossing between my ears with barbed wire. You know remoras, the “suckerfish” that attach themselves to the sides of whales. a slight higher class of remora…maybe the kind who are not so close to the backside of the whale.....................................

...........scratch the back of a friend who will soon be expected to scratch their back. ...........Like white blood cells they react to such criticism with an impulse to kill he intruder who has dared question the tactics or strategies of Garland.

It's not over until it's over. I pray you are right and Trump and all that goes with him is in our rearview mirror but he won't fade fast or easily.

I long for the previous decade when it was actually ok to NOT watch/read the news every day…. Several times a day…..
