I pulled out my copy of Timothy Snyder's "On Tyranny" (I think should be required reading by all people who want to dedicate themselves to public service) and read the first 7 chapters about his view of comparative history between us and the old views exemplified by Napoleon, Mao, Russia and other autocracies who were primary reasons that democracy was worm-holed by the passage of time working against the original efforts of human yearning for yclept "democracy". It is so prophetic in what is taking place now in our country, which had its first test in the Civil War, managed to pass into the 20th century's debacles, and into the 21st. Now we are confronted by a coalition of those who seem to care little, if at all, what history will emphasize: those who will not read or heed it will be condemned to repeat it. God have mercy on us all.
It’s hard for me to read the filing because it should have been in court this past spring, at the latest.
It should have been in court in Jan 6, and the orange traitor should have been in jail awaiting trial. Nothing like that happened, though if we pull up the speeches by Rs shortly after the attacks, it might seem like that would be next. No.
Last year SCROTUS blocked the path to adjudication with a lying and traitorous and specious demand for review, as I recall. Details matter, but appeals that should have been denied or short circuited were used to delay and block Constitutional justice, first in an appeals court and then in SCROTUS itself.
Then! At the last possible minute, providing maximum delay of justice, SCROTUS issued a fundamentally unlawful and traitorous decree this past summer, granting POTUS powers that do not exist in any democratic republic.
SCROTUS has to go.
Now we are debating very serious analyses of the court proceedings, which must happen, I suppose — but they should not have happens this way at all!
They should become more than pariahs, they should become prisoners. And we, the People, should not forget about Project 2025. As exciting as all the news is about the Jan 6 case against tRUMP, we cannot let ourselves be distracted. Project 2025 and the people who put it in place all need to be struck down. We can’t loose sight of that.
Thank you for walking your talk, DR . . . .sharing, sharing, sharing . . .and calling people to do their best to bring this house of Trump cards to a fold and move Democracy forward.
History will judge us by what we do with this election. Will people look back and say what the heck were we thinking in electing Trump. Or will they say, the American people did their job and we thank you for not destroying our democracy. Let’s hope it’s the latter and we ned do everything we can to keep this criminal out of the White House
A sobering and absolutely must read post. David lays out the specifics of the charges against Trump as articulate by Jack Smith, as well as the implications of the utter failure of the criminal justice system to hold Trump to account. Defeat him on November 5th and let’s see what the justice system does.
Trump supporters seem unable to process the information which would force them to take a realistic look at Trump. Perhaps his callous disregard for Pence and for the country will finally make them think again.
As to Putin, Trump has been in thrall to him since the very inception of the Trump Tower Moscow project. Trump began his Russia connection by running beauty pageants there. When he first got funding for his Tower, he hoped desperately that Putin would smile upon him. No dice. That round of funding fell through, Later Trump found another investor. All Trump talked about was meeting Putin. So keen was he that he decided Putin should have the penthouse. Putin didn’t rise to the bait.
Putin became interested in Trump when he ran for office.
Having studied Russia for decades, I am not so sure that the Steele Dossier should be tossed aside. But, if true, it is probably only the beginning. Russia is good at getting kompromat. The idea that Trump could be swayed by pictures of himself with prostitutes ludicrous. I expect they have more on him.

We need to make sure, in addition to Trump, Vance, Stone, Bannon, Giuliani and everyone who supported the big lie become pariahs!

To describe the 2024 election very basically - - it may be the last chance to vote for our right to make choices.
I’ll read the indictment. Thank you for your overview and analysis.
I hope that what failed to kill our democracy will indeed make it stronger.
Yes!

Love Deutsche Bank!
Also, Russia helped him financially when he was going through bankruptcies.
I honour your commitment to this Donnie convict guy
He is danger for the us
Wake up America or you will be the next Cuba
I think it more like we'll be the United States of Russia. Putin wants America
