Thanks . . . I've often thought of the 'not fit to be a dog catcher' comparison too . . . but then it occurred to me that dog catcher requires extraordinary responsibility and empathy and character, and is a position that regular people rely on for ethical and capable conduct every day. So, categorically, he is not fit to be a dog catcher. I haven't found a position that is so venal and low that DonT would serve . . . wonder if there is one.

Bogus TV 'star?' No . . . and I still need to see the investigation of the audience numbers that drove the premium payments that the advertisers paid, until the audience collapsed. If there was treachery there, who would be surprised ?

Fake hair, fake tan, fake smile, fake money -- He is a fake man.

Yet, we still have to remember. It's not about him. We keep hearing, 'he is a threat to democracy.'

No. The traitors and morons who have nominated him and support him are the danger. He's just a propped up puppet. We have to somehow deal with the R party itself, which is weakening and fading and flailing before our eyes, and the Feudalist Society, and the Heretics Foundation, and the rest that do not deserve their self-given names . . .

-- best luck to US, b.rad

Vance rarely answered the question which I thought was required and Vance lied constantly.

Will be watching on C-Span to avoid pundits, just pure debate.

I’ll be watching Walz make his case and he will, in excellent fashion. The unanswered question for me is how much fact checking should Walz do? You can’t let him throw you off, but you can’t let him lie with impunity either.

Brilliantly stated. I hope Tim laughs at J.D.'s lunacy. I'll be laughing right there with him. Now, I don't expect anything like 'THEY'RE EATING THE PETS OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE', but I can't WAIT to hear J.D's complaints about the price of eggs. This is gonna be Sofa King good.

Is it possible that Vance’s oligarch benefactors have in mind using the 25th Amendment if the orange buffoon wins ( please no, no, no), to install their amoral puppet?

I know it’s a terrible thought, sorry!

I've been having similar thoughts ever since Project 2025 surfaced. The men behind it (and they are overwhelmingly men, and white men at that) must have at least suspected how hugely unpopular it would be with the electorate, especially in the wake of the Dobbs decision. At the same time, authoritarian tendencies go very, very deep in the U.S. body politic, and for the last several decades they've been closely allied with white Christian fundamentalism. The Project 2025 crowd may live in a bubble, but I don't have a lot of confidence in "we the people's" ability to tear ourselves away from our phones and cable networks long enough to deal with reality.

That’s kind of the plot of the 1930s novel “It Can’t Happen Here”, which is scarily prescient.

The Tiffany Network is reorganized as The Dollar Tree. Sorry Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and Roger Mudd, but your old network will not hold candidates accountable for false statements.

What has "sleeze* done to you to be called Vance!! The focus on the notion of service to others vs service to ones' own profit does exemplify the sleeze of what you speak.

It is truly Bizarro world where the quality of the contestants are diametrically opposed yet so close. How?? What in the sweet f*** is going on.

Preaching to the flock; please vote the singled stranded DNA huckster and "hillbilly vanilli" onto the scrappy heap of history

Ugh. Enough said.

By any measure the country would be in far better hands with Tim Walz than JD Vance. Trump and Vance have demonstrated numerous times who and what they are so there should be no doubts in anyone's mind. Your single attribute of understanding public service is a great one. Tim Walz is a public servant through and through. He's got my vote for that reason alone. The fact that he has great personal integrity and government experience are just more points in his column.

I'll be watching tomorrow night as I'm curious to learn more about both men, though I long ago made up my mind. Hopefully enough others agree and the country is led by true public servants.

And part of the charm of Walz is he has never been a highly paid public servant. Even being a congressman and governor were not that highly paid.

Great advice to listen for the critical piece, character in service to the general good, in Governor Walz and its total absence in the Trump Chump.

Thank you for your insight. I feel that Walz will steal the show just by being true to himself. I like that he comes across as one of the good guys and admire the causes he has championed. The corporate media has betrayed us.
