At the same time we must also recognize that the folks behind Trump are worse than he is in all matters of legitimate or illegitimate governance. Trump’s violent and reality untethered speech effectively functions as the front man mouthpiece for the Lewis Powell ‘conservative cabal’ that created an opening for someone like Trump to become president. On his own, Trump is a mindless zombie like character who has run his life with empty platitudes and hollow promises. On the other hand, the ‘conservative cabal’ is a polar opposite force that has been working toward their goal of business and oligarchical domination for nearly 50 years. They will not miss an opportunity to use Trump’s actual or perceived mental deterioration as a means to assume control as they did with Reagan and continue dismantling the systems that allow America to operate under unfettered capitalism.
So, whether it’s all about Trump and his predilections or the ‘conservative cabal’ who set him up, the answer is the same: Trump must not be allowed back into office.
The unanswerable question is how this election is hanging by a thread. Part of me believes that America will surprise us on election day, that they will turn their backs on this desecration of everything we hold dear, that they will reject Donald Trump and elect Harris in a surprise landslide. Why do I cling to that hope? Because the alternative is too hard to accept, that half of America could be vile enough to put Donald Trump back in office as president of the United States.
My beloved father spent 6 years in Siberian labor camps and my grandparents were murdered by the Nazis. I have a hole in my heart that I never knew my grandparents who were killed for the sin of being Jewish. The unimaginable persecution my father experienced will always haunt me. He lost his parents, his country that was home to our family for generations, and his intended future. He came to the US after liberation to rebuild his life and live in and participate in a democracy that he spent every day of his life working to strengthen. My only solace is that he’s not alive to see this.
My brother came home from Vietnam a broken person and at the age of 20 committed suicide. In 1997, during a Howard Stern interview he claimed that avoiding STDs was “my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider”.
What a disgusting and disgraceful thing to say to those young men.
I’m so sorry. My father was a Holocaust survivor who suffered from depression and PTSD. He became a civil rights activist when he settled in the States and saw how the “other” was treated in our supposed “land of the free.” He understood that if one person is persecuted, we are all persecuted. He died a broken man.
I’m a former US Air Force officer and I want to remind people that every US military officer swears an oath to defend the constitution and not the president. While the president is our commander and chief, as an officer we are duty bound to only carry out legal orders. Let’s make sure we elect leaders who understand the responsibility of commanding this great power and hope the senior officers offer both wise counsel and restraint if needed.

The ruthlessness of those words shows how horrible a person he is. I am old at 88 but I will join you on your list and do whatever I can to help erase this human pile of garbage from our political system. He deserves to be in jail for a long long time. I am a relatively peaceful person but the hate I have for this orange monster and his cohorts scares me. It is so very real. I will share this widely.

I was raised in a FDR Liberal NYC family. As an only child, I read articles, viewed documentaries, and had family friends who had had or knew many who had suffered during Hitler’s reign. He has always been the epitome of evil. It is nearly unbearable that the Republican leader idolizes the Nazi leader. Even so I firmly believe we will win this battle.
