Sorry, win or lose, Trump supporters are not welcome. Not now or ever. They are an existential threat to our country and willfully knowingly so. There is no forgiving the damage they have done or the lives they have stolen with their ridiculous COVID conspiracies among countless other things. If Trump pulls this off we will see their unabated horror in full force.

Thank you for your thoughtful and helpful contributions over the course of this truly bizarre Presidential election.

I never expected a close election and when the polls shifted, I began to worry. The camera person who showed Trump's half empty rallies this week, long lines at the polling places, big Kamala crowds, the Iowa poll, and being so sick of being tactful I dumped my opinion about Trump on MAGA acquaintances about what he has done to jaw dropped silence and no retort, all which have bolstered me. I believe women will overcome the Orange Menace. Please God that it is so. Regardless, I'll look for your next article.

I am gritting my teeth because of the disenfranchisement inherent to the Electoral College. I very nearly didn’t survive the Illinois Rauner governorship, which presided over a 793 day budget impasse. It meant no Medicaid bills were being paid and I was only admitted to hospital when actively in crisis. Like actively having confirmed sepsis. Which I did four times back to back to back. Medical care dwindled because ongoing care even “emergency” referrals took months and months at best. And that was during a Trump administration so no backstop to get care. I am severely Disabled and unable to emigrate anywhere. Even being a refugee is questionable.

So I’m here for all the marbles.

Perhaps self centered perspective but I lived it and that only barely. I can’t again. Doubt would. Could.

So I understand it. No appeasing Republicans, but welcoming them to big tent Team Democracy.

I hope there’s enough of us in the right places to satisfy the electoral college cudgel.

And a cudgel it is. When no Republican has won the popular vote since 1988. Spare me the 2004 exception that proves the rule.

We need an amendment to make amendments easier to pass. And we need electoral college reform asap, whether it though an amendment or the national popular vote compact.

And spare me the clutched pearls over the filibuster reform or abolishment.

Everything else follows from there.

But for sure a lot of existential fear tomorrow.

... and a little Divine intervention, if asked for, is there for the taking. Don't forget the Almighty cares how we fare in this chaos. We are good at creating that; He is good at creating everything else worth while.

Just sayin'.

Here’s to all that. One thing though: I have a feeling we’ll know by bedtime.

It will be a painful grind and I won't rest easy until Kamala Harris is sworn is the president next January. In the meantime lets hope that our citizens make good choices at the polls. If we can turn off social media and the news insanity and just talk to each other, we'd realize most of us want the same things. We just come at it from a different angle. Hopefully we'll have a decisive victory to mute some of the shenanigans. Peace to all and let's try to be nice to each other especially tomorrow.

Well David, like you I was planning to watch on my own, flipping channels and responding to texts. But then two friends called, independently of one another, to ask if they could watch with me. So I will have to play host at our mini party.

The good news is that they will be bringing wine (and snacks). I told them I'd keep the poison on hand. But you know what? I'm not packing my bags just yet. We're going to prevail. And by margins that will render Trump's legal challenges laughable. At least, I have to believe that's going to be the case (bad pun intended).

I have also said all along that if Trump were to win there would be a brain drain out of the country.

The Trump circus will be awful. May we all survive. And may Kamala win. We need her. The betting markets should somehow get their comeuppance. Don’t know how…

I think Plouffe and Buttigieg are due hearty congratulations on the work they have done.Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and the Obama’s likewise. Still, Liz takes the cake for sadly walking into the line of fire. She is one of the bravest people around. Our veterans should be very proud of her spirit.

I was one of the people severely whacked in the head by Hillary’s loss. I never discounted Trump, but thought he would lose in the final analysis. So I am more nervous than I would like to be.

Here’s to Madam President!
