I’m a lifelong Republican, but this year I’ll be voting for Kamala Harris. I just put together a short post to help wake up fellow Republicans, and I think it offers some eye-opening insights. It’s a quick read, but it could make a big impact. If you have a moment, please take a look—you might find it thought-provoking.

The underlying reality is that America is a post-consequence society.

Our absolutist interpretation of the 1st Amendment means that hate speech and propaganda cannot be reigned in.

Our ratings-driven media means that no danger is so great it cannot be normalized and sane-washed by cynical journalists who delude themselves into believing the guardrails will hold.

The refusal of AG Garland to add CT in a timely manner forseeably resulted in the collapse of accountability for Trump and his GOP coup accomplices.

The refusal of Durbin to act at all emboldened SCOTUS to overturn the rule of law for presidents.

The deliberate choice of the US government to allow one man to be deeply embedded in US infrastructure emboldened Musk to blatantly undermine US foreign policy and US national security, with zero consequences.

Biden either didn't believe that the situation was so dire, or was unable to communicate the scope of the threat.

Harris is running a low-risk/do-no-harm campaign. This is, at best, bringing the election to a draw.

Has everybody forgotten that Putin and Russia have some 1,500 nuclear warheads within 30 minutes from lighting over your head? How can you not push back with all you have got as a country?

I don’t understand any of it. The son I live with and his wife call me an out of touch person who doesn’t understand how the world works, which is exactly what I think of them. Out of 3 sons only the middle one has any sense and agrees with me. Their father (who died 15 years ago) would be appalled. I think the oldest one isn’t serious about liking Trump and is just trying to rile us up. His comedy career is going nowhere IMO. I choose sanity over idiots who hate everyone and is a narcissistic sociopath with dementia

And then there's the .5% Fed cut and the markets don't like it? What's up with that?

And marketers always fall when unemployment goes down, I've observed it for years. The investors think "productivity "/profit is better when it isn't shared with workers....

I don't get it either, but this may be because I don't *want* to get it. I do, however, have some thoughts on the matter. Thought #1: Owing to the decline over the decades of civics education in secondary schools, many USians have no idea how government works or what government is supposed to do. Thought #2: This invites comparison with the number of USians who attend church regularly, consider themselves Christians, but have no idea what Christianity is supposed to be about. Thought #3: Many people find it easier to connect with individuals than with abstract concepts like "democracy" and "Christianity." Thought #4: Many white people assume that God entrusted the US of A to white people and for non-white people to claim otherwise is sacrilegious. Thought #5: The white people on Fox know what's good for us.

If I come up with any more bright ideas, I'll let you know.

David don’t forget that voting for tfg could very likely be voting for that opportunist lunatic Vance given that 78 year old donOLD is a walking heart attack. Cannot take that chance.

David, I have wondered since 2015 how people can vote for or support Trump and the Russians. I realize the Russians are no longer Communists, but it's certainly an authoritarian state and how the Republican Party supports this is beyond me. Is this what libertarianism leads to? I lean toward the blackmail theory, that Putin has film and phone records compromising most Republican leaders, leading them to support Trump. I understand that the young Republicans don't remember the Cold War, but I do, and I just can't bring myself to find any level of support for Russia's government and whatever it wants...
