Every doctor that is treating the felon needs to be truthful with the American people about his clearly diminished mental capacity. If not, they should be subpoenaed and forced to testify about his mental and physical condition.

A No Kings rally every 4 months isn't going to cut it either. It's actually pointless. Work stoppages, walkouts, shutdowns, those things make more sense, especially when trying to get the mainstream media to actually cover these events. Frog costumes and dancing in the streets obviously didn't change anything.

He has descended this country to hell. Other countries have lost all respect for the U.S. They won’t trade or work militarily. I said trump was a Russian asset in 2015 and no one believed me. He will lead us into a war if he is not stopped or impeached.

...I'd like to see those...

“frogs do have the common sense to jump out of a pot of water as its temperature grows unacceptably high.” That is not how I remember that example… just the opposite.

Well, as it turns out, the story of the frog was a myth. Studies showed the frogs did hop out.

“we are suddenly in a place of lunacy more acute than this country has ever experienced.”

Well, I don’t know about that. The U.S. has a history stretching over a couple of hundred years or so. You can’t imagine a worse time?

I would like to share this piece on my column. Is that ok? Great writing and it definitely hits the spot big time.

Do you ever wonder if at this point, America is simply too big a country to exist as a functional democracy?

Like, it can stay this big and not be a functional democracy, or it could split into smaller countries, some of which could be democracies.

Even prior to trump, we were barely holding on to being a functional democracy, which is how conditions got so bad that people were desperate enough to let an outsider take the wheel.

Urgency in representative leadership and the citizenry has been needed since January 6th, 2021 when a transparent insurrection was attempted. Notable leading Republicans had a reality check that lasted a devastating second when their lives were directly threatened. This lawless, unconstitutional event captures the spirit of the Trump administrations. It was strategic and symbolic that one of Trump’s first actions was to pardon January 6th participants incarcerated for their crimes. The pen heard around the world demonstrated: ‘I can and will endorse and uphold criminality.’

Yes, in almost 2026, our democracy is on life support and insatiable, greedy hands are ready to pull the plug. The call to action could not be more urgent and many of us are trying to take positive actions to support and sustain our democracy.

However, what I find missing here are essential contexts. So many Americans were already living on the threshold of or deeply in survival mode. When one is struggling to pay the rent and eat, let alone trying to access healthcare or prevent going into medical debt, they have limited capacities to engage. Some of those folks voted for Trump believing his rhetoric that he would address these core needs.

And while propaganda has always been rife in America, since the rise of the smart phone (a handheld mini-laptop) and social media, influencers, and fractured or monopolized media owned by tech moguls—Americans are deeply impacted by disinformation campaigns, silos, and news deserts. As a result, We the People no longer hold a foundational, shared reality—which has been necessary for Trump’s ascendency, as it strategically and intentionally erodes our experience of national unity. This administration’s lifeblood (and the power brokers behind the presidency and the cabinet) requires the populace to be divided by manipulated culture wars and hating the politicized ‘other.’ Trump’s language of “enemy”, “vermin”, “scum”, “animals” invites and reinforces hating your fellow citizen or politicians with other viewpoints.

The intentional speed and onslaught of disruption—previewed in the inaugural address as “shock and awe” was and continues to be strategically disorienting and overwhelming.

Beyond consumer boycotts and seriously considering how one is invested financially in the system, and exercising First Amendment rights (calls, letters, peaceful protests, voting, etc.), the most impactful pro-democracy action may be a daily commitment to reconnect with fellow citizens beneath the noise of name calling and political identities. Human beings are wired for connection. If we see someone needing help in an emergency, we don’t ask who they voted for. We just help.

• We must act now to prevent the total collapse of the rule of law and irreversible implosion of America's constitutional government.

• We must act now to map out and secure America’s pro-democracy future in a post-Trump world.

• We did this 250 years ago. We can do this again. If not already happening, NOW is the time to...

1) Gather the foremost scholars, historians, politicians, journalists, activists and leaders with expertise and experience in: a) establishing pro-democracy government, and b) overcoming fascism and totalitarianism.

2) Convene a shadow government, as Tim Snyder recommends, to map out requirements, roles, means and strategies to confront and remedy American democracy’s existential crisis, i.e., consider all possible means and strategies to prevent the total collapse of the rule of law and irreversible implosion of America's Constitutional government.

3) Convene a 21st century Constitutional Convention to... a) Draft a 21st century Declaration of Independence that clearly itemizes the Trump/GOP regime’s tyranny, corruption and crimes; b) Draft an updated 21st century U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to amend, salvage, repair, and better rebuild, ensure and safeguard American government and democracy for the challenges of the future.

We do not have to reinvent the wheel. We have excellent, albeit outdated, founding blueprints. We did this 250 years ago. We can do this again ... Better than ever!
