I subscribed to the NY Times for 45 years and recently canceled it. Someone made the decision to move to the right to attract a wider audience but instead is chasing away people who want the truth without fear of any consequences. There are plenty of other places to get information these days, like your substack column. Thank you!

Thank you, David. I'd like to forward to the evangelical population. 🤷‍♂️

Great piece David. The man and the party know no depth to their depravity. If the NYT was still a real newspaper, I’ve no doubt you would be a regular contributor.

How do I love this?? I thought I was beyond being (over)fixated on Trump, but the thought of him battered by withering winds, stench, pugilistic excess, and all the rest of it was so suspiciously delicious that I guess I'm not. P.S. Fond as I am of sibilants, I agree that speciousissimus is too much of a good thing, but sometimes it's the thought that counts even if you can't pronounce it.

place. (I’ve a broken elbow, kindly ignore the slip ups ) I am a born New Yawka and have been disgusted by trump since he blew open the door in the 1980’s. He’s ugly. His hair, alone should’ve been set ablaze so as to be rid of him. But sadly, here we are. You know what to do! Cast him down and out into the cavernous netherworld of the bull pens and holding cell of the Criminal Justice System. To be hated, mocked unmercifully until the end of our world…

Such an enjoyable yet vengeful piece! As a Dante Alighieri devotee, I’ve also envisioned Donald in “Il Inferno!” It encapsulates all of his ills, and leads whomever doesn’t realize it— to an unimaginable, insufferable

Thank you for this damming indictment of DJT, from the pages of the Inferno. This would be a much more fitting op-ed for the NYT to publish. If someone truly wanted to examine Trump's character, they need look no further than the draft-dodging, brothel owning grandfather, KKK member and slumlord father, DJT the criminal mob boss conman grfiter and the blatant evidence of his 4 years as POTUS.

This is brilliant and wonderfully hilarious to read; however, I don’t think nine levels of hell are enough with regard to Trump. We will need to envision way more hellish levels because Donald Trump breaks all records when it comes to depravity.

When they say VP Kamala Harris doesn’t have the “character” required for the Presidency, they really mean the cruelty, dishonesty, unfaithfulness, boneheadedness and insanity that they think a President should have. You’re right, it says more about them than anything else.

Kamala Harris is a woman and a mixed race black person. A white man's character is to be dominating, striving, rule-breaking, and aggressive. A woman's character is to be subservient and to take care of her husband and children with alacrity. A black person's character is to be lowly and subservient to all whites, working "black jobs." So, by definition, Kamala cannot have a white manly character appropriate to the Presidency.

It could also be simple projection - knowing that they lack the character needed and wish to accuse their opponent of the same thing. I seem to recall it wasn’t long ago that President Joe Biden was accused of not having character. See https://www.wsj.com/articles/joe-bidens-character-problem-1dad89cb for an example.

In their view "presidential character" is by definition male. So by their definition Kamala Harris doesn't have it. However, if by their definition Trump *does* have it, they have set a very, very low bar.
